Kuwait puts up a strong fight against Saudi Arabia.

MANAMA, Aug 11: Kuwait takes on Bahrain at 7 p.m. today in the third round of the second Arab Junior Volleyball Championship at the Isa bin Rashid Sports Hall in Manama.

The Blues are looking for their first win after opening the tournament with a 3-0 defeat to Egypt. They produced a much-improved display against Saudi Arabia in their second match but narrowly lost 3-2 after a five-set contest.

The coaching staff will look to build on that performance against Bahrain while addressing the weaknesses exposed in the opening two matches, particularly in reception, serving and attack execution.

Kuwait will face Jordan on Friday before wrapping up its preliminary-round campaign against Algeria on Saturday.

The remaining matches are important for the young Kuwait side as it seeks to gain valuable international experience, improve its position in the standings, and maintain its competitive hopes through the final round.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams began their participation in the second round of the West Asia Championship in Batroun, northern Lebanon.

In the women’s competition, Kuwait B, represented by Dana Bin Salama and Janan Al-Salem, defeated Lebanon 2-0, while Kuwait A, featuring Alaa Al-Bahou and Halima Al-Rashid, suffered a 2-0 loss to the Lebanese team.
