KUWAIT CITY, April 18: Kuwait hockey team aims to clinch the Men’s Ice Hockey World Cup (2024) fourth-level championship when it faces off against the Indonesian national team. The tournament culminates this evening, with Malaysia and Mongolia squaring off at 5:00 pm followed by Kuwait and Indonesia at 6:00 pm.

Initiated last Tuesday under the patronage of the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Daoud Marafi, and with the comprehensive technical, arbitration, and organizational oversight of the International Federation of the Game, the tournament holds significant importance as it grants the winner qualification to ascend to the third level in this global event.

The Kuwaiti national team showcased an impressive performance in its debut match, overpowering the Malaysian national team 15-1 amidst stiff competition from Mongolia.

Today, Al-Azraq eagerly anticipates a tough encounter with Indonesia, aiming to secure qualification for the third round and to progress towards an unprecedented achievement by reaching the first level, as per the Winter Games Club’s strategic plan. Under the technical guidance of Serbian coach Marko Zedravec, the Kuwaiti team boasts numerous standout players, signaling promising prospects for advancement to the third round.

Winter Games Club Treasurer Ahmed Al-Omran affirmed Kuwait’s success and commendable performance, highlighting the meticulous preparations and equipment preceding the tournament’s commencement. He emphasized Kuwait’s hosting of this prestigious event as a testament to the International Federation of the Game’s confidence in Kuwaiti talent and the nation’s strides in ice hockey development.
