KUWAIT CITY, June 21: Kuwait’s Public Prosecution announced that death sentences were carried out against five convicted individuals at the Central Prison on Saturday evening, June 20, 2026.
In an official statement, the Public Prosecution said the executions were conducted after confirming that all constitutional guarantees had been provided to the convicts, including the right to defense and litigation throughout the legal process.
The prosecution said the cases passed through preliminary investigations, trials at all three judicial levels, and the appointment of defense lawyers in accordance with relevant regulations. It added that one of the convicts had also submitted a request for reconsideration, which was reviewed before the final ruling was enforced.
According to the statement, the death sentences were carried out by hanging after the rulings were upheld by the Court of Appeals and the Court of Cassation, and after ratification by His Highness the Amir.
Convicts and Cases
The Public Prosecution identified the five individuals as follows:
(A.M) Kuwaiti National Convicted of Murder and Weapons Offenses
The first convict, identified by the initials A.M. , a Kuwaiti national, was convicted in Case No. 621 of 2021 by the Al-Ahmadi Prosecution, linked to Case No. 30 of 2021 at Mina Abdullah Police Station. He escaped from Kuwait Central Prison alongside two other convicts. Unlike the other two escapees, who were on death row for murder, He was serving a life sentence for serious drug offenses; his criminal background placed him among the highest-risk, maximum-security prisoners
He was found guilty of:
- Premeditated murder
- Attempted murder
- Possessing a machine gun, identified as a Kalashnikov automatic rifle
- Possessing ammunition without a license
The second convict, identified as H.S. , also a Kuwaiti national, was convicted in Case No. 579 of 2023 by Al-Jahra Prosecution, linked to Case No. 8 of 2023 at Kabd Police Station. He was involved in a major high-profile prison escape and subsequent manhunt in Kuwait who was captured. He was convicted and sentenced to death for the premeditated murder of his friend, Mubarak Al-Rashidi
He was found guilty of:
- Kidnapping with intent to kill
- Premeditated murder
- Unlawfully detaining the victim
- Possessing and acquiring narcotic substances
- Possessing a firearm and ammunition without a license
The third convict, identified as M.H., an Egyptian national, was convicted in Case No. 1161 of 2024 by Al-Ahmadi Prosecution, linked to Case No. 9 of 2024 at Sabah Al-Ahmad South Police Station. As per Court investigations revealed that the Egyptian accomplice directly helped in concealing the evidence of the Mubarak Al-Rashidi murder case. Together, they loaded the body, transported it to the Al-Salmi desert area to hide it inside a container, and burned the campsite tent to destroy forensic proof.
He was found guilty of:
- Kidnapping and threat with intent to commit sexual assault
- Sexually assaulting the victim
- Threatening to kidnap the victim
- Unlawfully detaining the victim
- Threatening the victim to harm by preventing her from resisting
The fourth convict, identified as A.M. , a stateless resident, was convicted in Case No. 317 of 2021 by Al-Jahra Prosecution, linked to Case No. 16 of 2021 at Kabd Police Station. Known for the Saad Al-Abdullah Garden Murder Case, the area was also the site of a brutal, widely reported crime where a 21-year-old Kuwaiti citizen murdered a Filipina domestic worker and buried her body in the garden of his family home in Saad Al-Abdullah to cover it up. The Court of Appeals ultimately handed down a 14-year prison sentence to the killer and jailed his family members for concealing the crime.
He was found guilty of committing premeditated murder .
(M.H) Kuwaiti National Convicted of Premeditated MurderThe fifth convict, identified as M.H. , a Kuwaiti national, was convicted in Case No. 809 of 2017 by Al-Jahra Prosecution, linked to Case No. 52 of 2017 at Al-Waha Police Station. He escaped from the Kuwait Central Prison alongside two other convicts. He had brutally murdered his mother-in-law. Reports indicate he held extremist ideologies and had traveled abroad to participate in the Syrian conflict. Upon returning to Kuwait, he exhibited violent behavior during family disputes. When his Mother-in-law intervened to protect her daughter during a severe domestic altercation, he turned on her, inflicting multiple fatal stab wounds
He was found guilty of premeditated murder .
Prosecution Says Legal Procedures CompletedThe Public Prosecution said the executions were implemented in accordance with final judicial rulings issued in the cases and upheld by Kuwait’s higher courts.
It emphasized that the sentences were enforced only after the completion of all stages of litigation and after the convicts were granted their legal and constitutional rights.
