Public Prosecution in Kuwait announces a new timeframe for court judgment implementation.
KUWAIT CITY, Mar 30: Public Prosecution Kuwait announced the establishment of a new specialized prosecution office dedicated to handling state security and terrorism-related crimes, under a decision issued by Attorney General Saad Al-Safran.
The new body, titled “State Security Crimes, Terrorism and its Financing Prosecution,” will operate under the direct supervision of the Attorney General and will be staffed by a director, deputy director, and a team of prosecutors. It will hold exclusive jurisdiction to investigate and prepare cases involving crimes that threaten the security, stability, and sovereignty of the state.
According to the statement, the prosecution will oversee offenses related to internal and external state security, terrorism and its financing, money laundering, and crimes affecting military authorities. Its mandate also extends to international crimes, including genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression, in line with recent legislative developments.
The decision further authorizes the new prosecution to assess terrorist risk requests, provide recommendations to the Attorney General, and conduct specialized studies and awareness initiatives within its scope.
Authorities said the move aims to strengthen Kuwait’s institutional framework in addressing serious crimes, enhance the efficiency and speed of legal procedures, and reinforce the country’s commitment to justice and security.
