KUWAIT CITY, March 25: Kuwait’s Environment Public Authority (EPA) confirmed that air quality across the country remains within approved health and environmental limits despite a fire at fuel tanks in Kuwait International Airport following a drone attack.
EPA spokesperson Sheikha Al-Ibrahim said monitoring systems operated by the authority and the Kuwait Oil Company have detected no violations in pollutant levels so far. She added that specialized teams began field monitoring immediately after the incident to track smoke emissions from the fire and assess their environmental impact.
In coordination with the General Directorate of Meteorology, authorities mapped the movement of the smoke plume and identified areas potentially affected, enabling precautionary measures to be taken.
The EPA affirmed that monitoring efforts are ongoing around the clock in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure public safety.
Earlier, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation confirmed that drones targeted a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, causing a fire. Initial reports indicated that the damage was limited to material losses, with no casualties reported. (KUNA)
