KUWAIT CITY, Mar 12: During a media briefing, Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, spokesperson for the Kuwait Ministry of Defense, said some power lines went out of service after debris fell during the engagement of hostile aerial targets.
He added that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the Land Forces Engineering Corps handled and safely disposed of eight reports involving unexploded ordnance and debris as part of continuing field operations.
Al-Atwan stressed that Kuwait’s armed forces remain fully committed to protecting the country’s airspace and territorial integrity, working in coordination with various military sectors across the nation to maintain security and stability.
Meanwhile, the Kuwait Ministry of Interior urged strict compliance with precautionary measures announced earlier, including a ban on weddings, parties and theatrical events during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday until further notice.
Speaking at the same briefing, Brigadier General Nasser Bouslaib, Director General of the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media and spokesperson for the Interior Ministry, said the country’s warning sirens were activated five times in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of activations since the start of the attacks to 87.
Bouslaib also noted that EOD teams dealt with nine reports of falling shrapnel during the past day, raising the total number of such incidents handled since the beginning of the aggression to 356. Specialized teams were deployed immediately upon receiving reports to secure affected areas and ensure public safety, he said.
During the briefing, officials also reviewed several cases involving debris or unidentified objects falling outside designated threat zones.
Bouslaib concluded by honoring the memory of Fahd Al-Majmad, a member of the General Department of Land Border Security who was killed during the current crisis. In a message remembered by colleagues, Al-Majmad had said: “Sleep well… heroes are guarding you, after God.”
Authorities said the suspension of large public gatherings during Eid is intended to reduce crowds and strengthen safety measures as Kuwait continues to face security challenges.
