DOHA, May 14 (KUNA): Kuwait added to its medal tally, securing two silver and six bronze medals on the second day of the 4th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Games in Doha, which runs until May 22.
Swimmer Abdullah Sultan claimed bronze in the 200m backstroke.
In taekwondo, Ali Bourhama won silver in the under-68kg category, while Ali Ghloum secured bronze in the over-80kg division. Fatima Al-Jemaz added another bronze in the over-67kg category.
In fencing, Fawzia Al-Rifai earned silver in the épée event.
In bowling, the duo of Mustafa Al-Mousawi and Faisal Al-Saleem won bronze in the doubles event, while in billiards, Suleiman Ghloum secured bronze in the 10-ball singles competition.
The Kuwaiti quartet of Ali Al-Kharafi, Hussain Al-Kharafi, Anaz Al-Anaz, and Yara Al-Hunaidi, coached by Peter Postelmans, captured the bronze medal in the team event at the fourth Gulf Games currently taking place in Doha after a strong performance in the showjumping competition.The event, held at the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, featured two rounds and a jump-off amid intense regional competition.
Host nation Qatar claimed the gold medal through riders Faleh Al-Ajmi, Salman Al-Emadi, Khaled Al-Emadi, and Bassem Mohammad, while the United Arab Emirates team took silver.
The winners were crowned by Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, who also serves as President of the Olympic Council of Asia and chairman of the organizing committee of the Games.
