KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The General Department of Security Systems, under the Ministry of Interior, has launched a new state-of-the-art security patrol affiliated with the Human Resources and Information Technology Sector. Developed by specialized national cadres, the patrol is equipped with advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, facial recognition, and smart surveillance systems aimed at enhancing security performance across the country.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the initiative was implemented under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef. It is being closely followed up by Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Ali Mesfer Al-Adwani, and the Head of the Human Resources and Information Technology Sector, Brigadier Anwar Ahmed Al-Yatama.
At the core of the patrol’s capabilities is a smart mobile camera system that is directly connected to facial recognition and vehicle license plate technologies. This system captures real-time images and transmits them for processing and analysis using artificial intelligence. The data is then matched with the existing database at the General Department of Information Systems, enabling the rapid identification of wanted persons and vehicles, and facilitating their immediate integration into active field operations.
The Ministry confirmed that this patrol is the latest in a broader effort to modernize the security apparatus by integrating AI applications into surveillance and law enforcement systems, significantly enhancing the speed of response, the precision of procedures, and the overall effectiveness of security personnel.
The advanced patrol is equipped with the following features:
- Mobile fingerprint identification device for real-time identity verification.
- Automated detection of wanted vehicles using plate recognition.
- Direct connectivity with Ministry of Interior databases, enabling fast identification of wanted individuals.
- Full-spectrum security monitoring specifications to support on-ground operations.
- Operational support for field personnel, improving accuracy in apprehending violators and streamlining field procedures.
The Ministry emphasized that this initiative represents a strategic step toward the comprehensive digital transformation of Kuwait’s internal security services. By equipping field units with intelligent, data-driven technologies, the Ministry aims to maintain public safety while advancing toward a smarter, faster, and more efficient security framework.
