Kuwait’s athletes proudly stand on the podium, celebrating their victory at the Arab Athletics Championships in Egypt.

CAIRO, June 25 (KUNA):  Kuwait’s national athletics team wrapped up its campaign at the Arab Athletics Championships for U-16 and U-23 categories in Egypt with a total of 12 medals, highlighting a strong showing across multiple events.

The final medal tally included three gold, five silver, and four bronze medals, following a bronze secured on Wednesday by decathlete Sultan Al-Rais in the U-23 decathlon, where he recorded 5,921 points.

Farouk Al-Shaer, Board Member of the Kuwait Athletics Federation and Head of the Media Committee, praised the team’s overall performance, noting that the championship marked the first international appearance abroad for the U-16 athletes.

Despite limited international exposure, the young athletes secured multiple podium finishes and set several personal bests, underscoring the success of their development pathway.

Al-Shaer also highlighted the importance of the 12-day preparatory training camp held in Egypt ahead of the competition, which helped prepare the athletes for the demands of continental-level competition and strengthened sporting ties with other Arab nations.

He expressed gratitude to the Egyptian Athletics Federation for organizing the event, as well as to the Arab Athletics Federation for ensuring smooth logistical operations throughout the championship.

The third edition of the Arab Athletics Championships for the U-16 and U-23 categories took place at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia from June 20 to 24, with 14 Arab national teams participating.
