MEXICO CITY, Jun 10: The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Mexico has issued a travel advisory urging Kuwaiti citizens planning to visit Mexico to comply with local regulations and travel requirements to ensure a safe and smooth stay in the country.
In a statement, the embassy stressed the importance of obtaining a Mexican visa before travel or carrying one of the approved documents that permit entry under Mexican immigration regulations. These include a valid visa issued by the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, or any Schengen Area country, as well as permanent residency permits from those countries or a Mexico-approved Asia Pacific Business Travel Card (ABTC).
The embassy clarified that the US Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) under the Visa Waiver Program is not accepted as a valid document for entry into Mexico.
Travelers were advised to ensure that their passports remain valid for at least six months from the date of arrival and to carry confirmed return flight tickets, hotel reservations, and valid health insurance. The embassy also urged citizens to familiarize themselves with and comply with all local laws and regulations during their stay.
As part of its safety guidance, the embassy recommended remaining within designated tourist areas, avoiding the display or carrying of large amounts of cash and valuables, and staying away from crowded places or areas experiencing unrest. Travelers were also encouraged to use licensed ride-hailing applications for transportation and to purchase tickets for events, including World Cup matches, only through official channels.
The advisory further highlighted the importance of carrying prescriptions for any medications brought into Mexico and keeping both digital and printed copies of essential travel documents, including passports, visas, flight reservations, hotel bookings, and event tickets. Citizens were encouraged to arrange accommodation, transportation, and travel plans in advance.
The embassy also reminded travelers that electronic cigarettes are prohibited in Mexico and emphasized compliance with customs regulations regarding tobacco products. In addition, travelers carrying cash exceeding US$10,000 or its equivalent must declare it to customs authorities. It also noted restrictions on electronic devices, including limits on the number of personal computers that can be brought into the country.
The embassy concluded by urging Kuwaiti citizens to contact the mission immediately in case of emergencies and reaffirmed its commitment to providing assistance and support to nationals throughout their stay in Mexico.
