KUWAIT CITY, July 8: Kuwait's Armed Forces intercepted two hostile ballistic missiles and 13 hostile drones that breached the country's airspace in the early hours of Wednesday, preventing any casualties or material damage, the Ministry of Defense announced.
Official Ministry of Defense spokesman Major General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi said the aerial threats were detected at dawn and were successfully intercepted and neutralized by Kuwait's air defense systems.
"The Armed Forces detected two hostile ballistic missiles and thirteen hostile drones that breached Kuwaiti airspace. These were successfully intercepted and dealt with, resulting in no material damage or human injuries," Al-Otaibi said in a statement.
The ministry did not identify the source of the missiles and drones or provide details on where they were intercepted.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the highest levels of operational readiness, emphasizing that military personnel remain on constant alert to safeguard the country's sovereignty and protect the safety of citizens and residents.
The ministry said Kuwait's defense forces will continue carrying out their duties with efficiency and professionalism as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and respond to any threats against the country.
The interception marks the latest security incident amid heightened regional tensions, with Gulf states remaining on high alert as military activity continues across the region.
