KUWAIT CITY, March 7: The Kuwait Armed Forces said its air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a wave of missiles and drones launched from Iran early Friday, preventing major damage or casualties.
In a statement issued by the official spokesman of the Kuwait Ministry of Defense, Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi said the attacks began at dawn on Friday, March 6, 2026, targeting several areas of the country.
According to the statement, Kuwaiti air defenses intercepted and destroyed 12 drones over the northern and central regions, while 14 missiles were intercepted in the southern region. Two of the missiles reportedly fell outside the designated threat area.
Authorities said the attacks resulted only in material damage caused by falling shrapnel, with no casualties reported.
The General Staff of the Army explained that explosion sounds heard in various parts of the country were the result of air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.
Officials urged the public to follow security and safety instructions issued by relevant authorities and to rely only on official information.
The Kuwaiti Armed Forces also stressed that they remain on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any threats, affirming their commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, security, and stability and protecting national interests and capabilities.
