ABU DHABI, Feb 11 (KUNA): Kuwait's weightlifting team claimed three medals—two gold and one bronze—at the Masters Weightlifting Championship (Abu Dhabi 2026), currently underway in the UAE capital.
The championship features competitors from 43 countries, competing across official weight categories under the regulations of the International Weightlifting Federation. The event began on February 7.
Mohammad Al-Nasser won gold in the 110 kg category for the 45-year-old age group, showcasing his dominance and reaffirming his strong record in regional and international competitions.
Fellow Kuwaiti Yousef Al-Asiri claimed gold in the 35-year-old category after an outstanding performance, while Nawaf Al-Nasser secured the bronze medal in the 40-year-old group after advancing to the finals.
Speaking to KUNA, Mohammad Al-Nasser attributed his victory to long-term dedication, intensive training, and a disciplined preparation camp. He emphasized that the achievements of Al-Asiri and Nawaf Al-Nasser mark a significant milestone for Kuwaiti weightlifting on both regional and international stages.
He also noted that the Abu Dhabi Championship is regarded as one of the most competitive global events, given the participation of elite athletes from around the world.
