Kuwait dominates Special Olympics equestrian events

CAIRO, Sept. 21: Kuwaiti riders from Al-Tamouh Club for Athletes with Intellectual Disabilities swept the top three places in the Category C English riding competition at the 10th Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa Regional Games in Cairo.

Nawaf Al-Qassar claimed first place, followed by Maryam Theyab in second and Abdullah Al-Ali in third, deputy head of the Kuwaiti delegation Sadiqa Al-Ansari told KUNA.

Basma Al-Bsaily also competed in the show jumping event and received a participation ribbon after her horse failed to clear three courses.

Al-Ansari expressed hope that the Kuwaiti delegation would achieve further positive results in the Games. She also thanked the Government of Kuwait, the Kuwait Embassy in Egypt, the Public Authority for Sport, and parents and supporters of sports programs for their support of the athletes and their participation in the event.
