KUWAIT CITY, June 13: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced that security authorities have dismantled an illegal Captagon manufacturing operation and arrested two Bedouns who were allegedly producing and processing psychotropic substances from a farm in the Kabd area.
The operation was carried out by the Criminal Security Sector through the General Department for Drug Control’s Local Control Department as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and eliminate its sources.
According to the ministry, the suspects had been placed under surveillance after authorities gathered intelligence regarding their alleged criminal activities. Following investigations, security forces identified a farm in Kabd that was being used as a clandestine facility for the production and preparation of narcotic pills.
During the raid, the two suspects reportedly attempted to resist arrest and evade capture. However, officers successfully subdued and apprehended them due to what the ministry described as the vigilance and preparedness of the security team.
A search of the premises led to the discovery of approximately five kilograms of raw Captagon powder, a tablet-pressing machine used in the manufacture of pills, a precision scale, packaging and portioning equipment, and a quantity of empty bags intended for distribution purposes.
The ministry said that subsequent investigations and interrogations of the suspects revealed the existence of a much larger quantity of ready-to-distribute Captagon tablets hidden at another location. The suspects allegedly admitted that the pills had been buried underground in an attempt to conceal them from authorities.
Security personnel later recovered around 100,000 Captagon tablets from the hidden cache. Authorities estimated the street value of the seized pills at more than KD 500,000.
The suspects, along with all confiscated narcotics, manufacturing equipment and related materials, have been referred to the competent authorities for further legal action.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting society from narcotics, stressing that security agencies will continue pursuing anyone involved in the manufacture, trafficking or concealment of illegal drugs.
The ministry emphasized that there will be no tolerance for individuals who threaten the country’s security through the trade of narcotic and psychotropic substances, regardless of the methods used to carry out their activities.
