KUWAIT CITY, Mar 8: Kuwait Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Saud Al-Atwan announced on Sunday that Kuwaiti air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles in the south of the country over the past 24 hours, while also neutralizing several hostile drones that penetrated national airspace.
Speaking during the third media briefing on current events, Al-Atwan mourned the martyrdom of Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Emad Al-Sharrah and Major Fahd Abdulaziz Al-Mujammad, who were killed at dawn while performing security duties in coordination with the Ministry of Interior. He detailed that two drones targeted fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport in the Subhan area, and another struck the Public Institution for Social Security building in Kuwait City, with no human casualties reported but shrapnel fallout noted.
Al-Atwan urged citizens and residents to avoid touching any shrapnel or foreign objects and to report sightings via the emergency hotline 112, emphasizing the Kuwaiti armed forces' highest levels of readiness to defend the nation's sovereignty under the leadership of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad.
