KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: A security source has revealed that around 3,500 expatriates of both sexes have been deported from Kuwait during January as part of intensified security campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Interior, underscoring ongoing efforts to enforce residency and labour laws.
The figures come amid a broader crackdown that saw the deportation of thousands of foreign residents in recent years as part of sustained enforcement operations targeting violators of residency regulations, absconders, illegal workers and other offenders reported by Arab Times earlier last month.
Security officials said the January deportations reflect the Ministry’s continued resolve to uphold legal requirements and national security, with coordinated campaigns conducted across all governorates to locate and remove individuals in violation of Kuwait’s laws. The measures align with previous years of heightened enforcement, during which tens of thousands of expatriates were deported in mass operations.
The Ministry of Interior has repeatedly emphasised that deportations are part of Kuwait’s broader strategy to regulate the labour market, protect public safety and ensure compliance with immigration legislation.
