Kuwait depart for ACC Asia Cup Qualifiers in Oman

After a grueling national camp of 4 months that included a first of its kind national T20 championship managed and executed by National Coach & Development Manager Muthumudalige Pushpakumara, the boys in red & blue are raring to go for the upcoming challenge as it has huge potential to change the future of Kuwait Men’s team which is currently ranked 28th in ICC T20 global rankings.

The tournament is all set to be played from Feb 23-28, 2020 at Oman Turf Cricket Grounds where Kuwait will take on Saudi Arabia on the 23rd followed by the mighty UAE on the 24th with their last group match taking place against Iran on the 25th. Top two teams from each group will qualify for cross semifinals on the 26th followed by grand finale on Feb 27.

Kuwait Cricket Board President Haider Farman, Director General Sajid Ashraf & Kuwait National Team Manager Mahmoud Abdullah graced the occasion of the national team photo shoot departing to Oman where all the 20 national contracted players for the year 2020 were remunerated for the months of January & February in a groundbreaking move.

Head of Domestic Rishi D Jayan, Head of Facilities & Logistics Robert D’Souza, Head of Match officials & technical Naveen Dhanajayan, Head of government affairs Saud Qamar, and deputies/assistant managers of domestic & logistics departments Qais Parkar, Ali Talib & Naser Imbran were also present to wish the team all the luck for the upcoming ACC – WR in Oman.

Earlier this month, KC Board President Haider Farman handed over annual national contracts worth a total of $70,000 to as many as 20 players (men’s category), a path-breaking move to encourage & reward talented cricketers who consistently commit at domestic & international level for Kuwait whilst maintaining their full time jobs to support their families.
