KUWAIT CITY, Mar 2: The Kuwait Ministry of Interior, represented by its Cybercrime Department, on Monday denied reports circulating on social media claiming that high-rise and luxury residential towers in the southern part of the country had been targeted, describing the information as completely false.
First Lieutenant Dhari Al-Awadhi said in a telephone interview with a local news channel that the Cybercrime Department is closely monitoring inaccurate reports and fabricated video clips being shared online. He warned that such content undermines national security and spreads fear among citizens and residents.
Al-Awadhi urged the public not to be influenced by misleading or false information that could destabilize the country, stressing the importance of relying on official sources for updates, particularly in light of the current situation.
He affirmed that the department will take firm action against anyone found publishing or promoting false news that threatens public security, noting that violators will be referred to the competent authorities and legal measures will be applied.
Al-Awadhi also called on social media users to exercise responsibility and help promote reassurance within the community. He added that the Cybercrime Department has begun tracking accounts involved in spreading such rumors and confirmed that inquiries can be made through the department’s official WhatsApp contact.
