KUWAIT CITY, May 10: Kuwait’s sports delegation left the country today for Doha to compete in the 4th GCC Games, which run from May 11 to 22 with strong participation from across the Gulf Cooperation Council nations.
Ahead of departure, Kuwait Olympic Committee Director General, retired Major General Muhammad Al-Khalfan, met with the team in the presence of Public Authority for Sport Director General Bashar Abdullah.
Al-Khalfan told athletes that each member of the delegation represents Kuwait as an ambassador, urging them to deliver strong performances and uphold high sporting ethics that reflect the country’s proud Gulf sporting history.
He stressed that real success comes in difficult circumstances, noting that confidence in the athletes is unwavering and that the hopes of the Kuwaiti sports community rest on their efforts.
Al-Khalfan also called for full discipline, strict adherence to competition rules, strong team unity, and high morale throughout the event. He reaffirmed that all necessary support has been provided to ensure the delegation is fully prepared, with the aim of raising Kuwait’s flag and the national anthem on the podium.
Kuwait is sending a 120-strong delegation of male and female athletes competing in 13 sports out of 17 on the programme, including equestrian, 3x3 basketball, handball, athletics, bowling, swimming, padel, taekwondo, archery, billiards and snooker, fencing, karate, and shooting.
