KUWAIT CITY, Jul 7: Kuwait's General Administration of Customs has foiled an attempt to smuggle 18 kilograms of tobacco into the country after intercepting a vehicle at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing.

According to customs officials, the vehicle was driven by an Indian national who was stopped for inspection while entering Kuwait through the southern border checkpoint.

A detailed customs search uncovered 18 kilograms of tobacco expertly concealed inside specially modified compartments within the vehicle. The contraband was hidden beneath the undercarriage of the rear seats, inside the rear side panels, and in several other secret compartments designed specifically to evade detection.

Authorities said the sophisticated concealment methods indicated that the vehicle had been specially equipped for smuggling operations.

Following the seizure, customs officials initiated the required legal procedures, including preparing an official seizure report and referring the suspect to the General Department of Criminal Investigation to face further legal action.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening border security and preventing the smuggling of prohibited and restricted goods into Kuwait through enhanced inspection measures at all border crossings.
