Kuwait Customs seize 568 fake shoes and jackets in shipment from China

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23:  Kuwait Customs officers at the Air Cargo Terminal have seized 568 counterfeit shoes and jackets bearing trademarks in a shipment arriving by air from China.

According to Kuwait Customs, the shipment was declared in its shipping documents as containing furniture and chairs, with the bills of lading showing a total weight of 883 kilograms.

The shipment was subjected to thorough inspection after the Customs Investigation and Search Department raised suspicions. The inspection revealed that the shipment contained counterfeit goods, in violation of laws and regulations protecting intellectual property rights and prohibiting the circulation of counterfeit products.

Customs authorities said the required customs and legal procedures were taken against the shipment and the seized items.

The General Administration of Customs affirmed that it will continue strengthening inspections of incoming shipments and thwarting attempts to smuggle counterfeit and other illegal goods into Kuwait.
