Kuwait Customs in Salmi Foils Attempt to Smuggle Narcotics, 28 Cartons of Cigarettes

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 29: Customs inspectors at Kuwait’s Al-Salmi border crossing foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics and 28 cartons of cigarettes out of the country after becoming suspicious of a vehicle and subjecting it to a thorough inspection.

The inspection uncovered three Captagon pills and a strip of Lyrica pills, which had been carefully concealed inside the vehicle. Inspectors also found a solidified powder suspected to be methamphetamine (crystal meth) or synthetic cannabinoids. The substance was sent for laboratory testing to determine its exact nature.

In addition, 28 cartons of cigarettes were discovered hidden in different parts of the vehicle. Customs officials prepared two seizure reports — one for the security-related items and another for the commercial violation. The vehicle was impounded, while the suspect, the seized narcotics and other items were referred to the General Directorate for Drug Control for further legal action.
