KUWAIT CITY, August 12: Kuwait’s General Administration of Customs has thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of subsidized (Ration) food supplies out of the country in violation of customs regulations and applicable laws.
The attempted smuggling operation involved several trucks bound for Egypt and was uncovered during routine inspections carried out by customs inspectors from the Sulaibiya and Shabra Al-Khodra Customs Departments.
Inspectors became suspicious of a number of trucks and conducted thorough searches, during which they discovered large quantities of assorted food products.
Customs authorities seized the goods and took the necessary legal measures against those involved. The violators will be referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and completion of legal procedures.
The General Administration of Customs said the seizure forms part of its continuing efforts to combat the smuggling of restricted goods and strengthen oversight of cargo movements through Kuwait’s customs ports.
It stressed that customs inspectors will continue to exercise vigilance and take firm legal action against any attempts to violate customs regulations, protect the country’s resources and safeguard economic security.
