Kuwait Customs Foils Attempt to Smuggle 43.5kg of Chewing Tobacco

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 6: Kuwait customs officers at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing have foiled an attempt to smuggle approximately 43.5 kilograms of suspected chewing tobacco derivatives into the country, the General Administration of Customs announced.

Customs inspectors became suspicious of a vehicle entering Kuwait and subjected it to a thorough inspection. During the search, officers discovered 61 bags containing a substance suspected to be chewing tobacco derivatives, concealed inside the vehicle’s rear paneling in an apparent attempt to evade detection.

The seized material was confiscated and an official report was filed. The driver, along with the seized items, will be referred to the relevant authorities after the necessary customs and legal procedures are completed.

The General Administration of Customs said the seizure is part of its continued efforts to strengthen controls at Kuwait’s land border crossings and prevent the entry of prohibited and restricted materials.

The administration stressed that customs officers will remain vigilant and take firm action against smuggling attempts aimed at violating Kuwait’s laws and regulations.
