KUWAIT CITY, July 20: Officers from the General Administration of Customs at the Air Cargo Customs Department have foiled an attempt to smuggle around 10 kilograms of marijuana concealed in a shipment arriving from Thailand.

The shipment, declared as containing a table and lighting fixtures, was inspected after raising suspicion. Customs officers discovered the narcotics hidden inside a box containing lighting decoration cartons, professionally concealed beneath the items in an attempt to evade detection.

Following coordination with the General Administration for Drug and Alcohol Control, an Indian national was arrested while receiving the shipment. Legal procedures have been initiated, and the suspect, along with the seized narcotics, has been referred to the relevant authorities.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its continued efforts to strengthen inspections at all ports and combat attempts to smuggle prohibited substances into Kuwait.
