KUWAIT CITY, June 14: Customs officers at Terminal 5 of Jazeera Airways International Airport successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the country during a routine inspection of arriving passengers from Egypt.

According to the General Administration of Customs, officers became suspicious of a passenger’s luggage during standard screening procedures and carried out a detailed inspection, which led to the discovery of methamphetamine (crystal meth) concealed inside refrigerated food items, specifically chicken, in an apparent attempt to evade detection.

The authority said the seized drugs were carefully extracted and secured in accordance with legal procedures. A formal seizure report is currently being prepared for referral of the suspect, along with the confiscated substances, to the General Administration for Drug Control for further investigation and legal action.

Customs officials emphasized that the interception reflects the vigilance of inspection teams at Kuwait’s ports of entry and their ability to detect increasingly sophisticated smuggling methods.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening border control measures and continuing efforts to prevent the smuggling of prohibited substances, in order to safeguard public security and protect society from drug-related threats.
