KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: The General Administration of Customs – Nuwaiseeb Customs Department – successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of cigarettes. The incident occurred when a vehicle arrived at the outgoing vehicle inspection area.

According to details released by the authorities, a customs inspector became suspicious of the vehicle. When questioned, the driver denied carrying any cigarettes. However, a thorough search revealed 303 packs of cigarettes concealed in various locations both inside and outside the vehicle, some specially prepared for smuggling.

Immediate legal action was taken, including the seizure of the vehicle and referral of the suspect to the relevant authorities for further investigation and appropriate measures.

The General Administration of Customs emphasized that this achievement reflects ongoing efforts in line with the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior to intensify measures against all forms of smuggling and to strictly enforce the law, safeguarding the country’s security and economy.
