KUWAIT CITY, Sept 21: The General Traffic Department (GTD) in the Ministry of Interior continues its intensive campaigns to monitor overtaking and traffic obstruction violations, which are among the most common infractions that disrupt traffic flow. These campaigns are carried out in collaboration with the security sectors within the ministry, including emergency patrols, public security, traffic investigations, and the central control room, utilizing surveillance cameras and drones to monitor violations. A security source disclosed that GTD issued 249 violation citations for overtaking and intentionally obstructing traffic within 24 hours. In a related development, Head of the Northern Road Patrols Major Suleiman Al-Failakawi confirmed in an interview on Al-Akhbar Channel that overtaking and obstructing traffic are punishable by up to two months of vehicle impoundment. Furthermore, the ministry announced on its X account Sunday that it continues to intensify efforts to raise the level of traffic safety, calling on the public to strictly comply with traffic laws and fully cooperate with security personnel to guarantee the safety of everyone.
