KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Faisal Al-Ansari, announced that inspection campaigns targeting tourist and hotel establishments uncovered 17 violations. The violations ranged from refusing to sell goods or provide services, issuing invoices in languages other than Arabic, to the absence of clear and approved price lists for services offered. In a press statement, he explained that the inspection teams dealt with these violations in accordance with established legal procedures.
The inspections are part of a comprehensive plan to regulate the tourism market and ensure that hotel establishments comply with laws and regulations for protecting consumer rights and enhancing the quality of services, in cooperation with relevant government agencies. These inspections were conducted under the mandate of the committee responsible for classifying tourist and hotel establishments and ensuring service quality, which was formed last November. The committee is tasked with establishing a clear mechanism for inspections, recording violations, and monitoring the extent to which hotels adhere to approved quality and hospitality standards. The committee is also organizing inspection visits according to a structured schedule to avoid overlap or randomness, proposing corrective measures for recurring violations, monitoring negative practices, and coordinating with relevant government agencies to enforce laws and regulations, while submitting periodic reports to the competent authorities. Al-Ansari He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to dealing with issues before applying legal penalties, indicating that officials at violating establishments have been notified to comply with all decisions and regulations.
