KUWAIT CITY, May 17: A security raid in the Ardiya area has uncovered what authorities described as an unlicensed food production operation run from inside a residential house, allegedly linked to a confectionery brand producing sweets and chocolates outside approved health regulations.

According to a security source, the operation was exposed following intelligence received about the site being used to prepare branded confectionery products. Officers raided the house late last week, where they found a group of workers, including nine Asian women, along with large quantities of raw materials and finished products, some of which were reportedly expired or unfit for human consumption.

Authorities said the seized items were confiscated for destruction, and serious violations were issued against those responsible for operating a food production facility inside a residential property without proper licensing or health oversight.

The source noted that the brand in question operates a retail outlet in a high-end shopping mall with substantial monthly rent, yet is alleged to have relied on an unlicensed house-based setup for production, with goods distributed both in-store and through delivery services.

Initial investigations indicated that the detained workers were unaware of the regulatory violations, while legal procedures are now underway against the operators of the facility.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that ongoing inspection campaigns will continue across the country to prevent unsafe food practices and protect public health, stressing that consumer safety remains a top priority.
