Kuwait cracks down on food safety violations in Hawally - 32 Violations reported

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 4: Kuwait’s Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN), represented by the Hawally Governorate Inspection Department, carried out an inspection campaign targeting a number of food establishments in the governorate as part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations.

The inspection campaign resulted in the issuance of 32 violation reports, along with four destruction reports and two commitments. Inspectors also seized quantities found to be in violation of the applicable regulations and proceeded with their destruction. Legal measures were taken against the establishments and individuals found to be in violation.

The campaign in Mubarak Al-Kabeer resulted in nine violation reports for trading adulterated food and breaching health requirements, licensing regulations and health certificate requirements. Inspectors also seized 12.299 kilograms of adulterated food of unknown origin, which was subsequently destroyed. The authority said legal action was taken against the violators and stressed that inspection campaigns will continue to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and protect consumer health.

The authority said such inspection campaigns are aimed at ensuring that food establishments comply with required health and safety standards and at preventing violations that could pose risks to consumers. The inspections form part of PAFN’s continued efforts to safeguard public health and maintain food safety standards across Kuwait.
