Kuwait Cracks Down at Friday Market: 61 Wanted, Violators Arrested

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: Kuwait security authorities arrested 61 violators and wanted individuals during a security campaign at the Friday Market in Al-Rai on Friday, October 2, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and maintain public order.

The campaign was conducted by the Farwaniya Governorate Security Directorate in coordination with the Farwaniya Governorate Criminal Investigation Department, with the participation of Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Public Authority for Manpower and the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition.

According to the Ministry of Interior, authorities arrested 25 people wanted in connection with absconding reports, 16 for expired residency permits, eight for Labor Law violations, three for expired visas and two wanted for medical unfitness. They also arrested one person wanted to appear for execution of judgments, one registered with a non-existent company, two wanted in debt cases and one wanted for preventing entry into the country. Two street vendors were also arrested.

Authorities issued 15 violation reports, including seven by the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, seven by the Public Authority for Manpower and one by Kuwait Municipality. In addition, 120 humanitarian aid packages were distributed, while security presence at the market was reinforced. Legal procedures were initiated against all those apprehended.
