KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: The First Circuit of the Court of Cassation upheld the ruling issued by the Court of Appeals which sentenced an employee to five-year imprisonment, dismissal from his job, and a KD 500 fine, after convicting him of forging a exit permit at the Nuwaiseeb land border crossing. The defendant exploited his position to falsify the exit permit for a citizen and his wife, who were under a travel ban due to their dual citizenship, following correspondence with Saudi authorities regarding their legal status.
He was found guilty of forging official documents with the intent of helping others bypass travel restrictions. The Criminal Court had previously issued a default judgment sentencing the fugitive citizen and his wife to five years in prison after their involvement in the case was confirmed.
