Kuwait court upholds death sentence for Kuwaiti over abduction, sexual assault of Syrian child

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Nasr Salem Al- Haid, with Judges Miteb Al-Ardhi and Saud Al-Sanea as members, upheld two death sentence rulings issued against a Kuwaiti citizen convicted of kidnapping a nine-year-old Syrian boy from Maidan Hawally while the latter was on his way to perform Eid prayers. The defendant beat the child, took him to his residence and sexually assaulted him. According to the case details, Capital Governorate detectives apprehended the defendant within 24 hours of committing the crime. The child was found naked on the street in front of a school in Rawda. It was revealed that the defendant had a prior criminal record of kidnapping and sexual assault.
