KUWAIT CITY, July 21: The State Security Court of Appeals upheld the rulings in several cases of sympathizing with Iranian attacks on Kuwait and inciting sectarian strife, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The court upheld the acquittal of a male citizen, a female student and a male student on charges of inciting sectarian strife and sympathizing with Iran, after it was proven that they were outside Kuwait at the time of the Iranian attacks and were unaware of the events taking place in the country.
The court upheld the decision to refrain from ruling on the case of several citizens accused of sympathizing with Iran and inciting sectarian strife on social media platforms, including X, Instagram and WhatsApp. It then obligated the defendants to maintain good conduct for two years and to post bail ranging from KWD 1,000 to KWD 3,000. In another case, the court upheld the acquittal of a citizen on charges of spreading false news and insulting the Gulf states.
The court upheld the decision not to rule on the case of a citizen accused of inciting sectarian strife and sympathizing with Iran. The court upheld the five-year prison sentence imposed on Salman Al-Khalidi for offending and defaming HH the Amir during his trial. The court ordered a citizen to undergo psychiatric evaluation in a case, in which he was previously sentenced to three years in prison for inciting sectarian strife and expressing sympathy for Iran. The court acquitted the same citizen of spreading false news, stirring panic during wartime, and offending the Gulf states.
