KUWAIT CITY: The Criminal Court has sentenced a food supply branch manager to a fine of KD 3,000 and four expatriates — an Egyptian, a Bangladeshi and two Indians — to three years in prison, followed by deportation, for illegally taking food supplies belonging to a cooperative society in Jahra Governorate.
The court, presided over by Judge Nasser Al-Bader, with Judges Abdulaziz Al-Maadhadi and Abdulhadi Al-Hajri as members, and Yaacoub Al-Ballam as court secretary, issued the verdict after the defendants were found involved in the unauthorized appropriation of food commodities without the knowledge of the cooperative society's shareholders.
According to the case details, the defendants allegedly deducted quantities of 250 grams and 500 grams from food products during each sale transaction, thereby diverting portions of the commodities without the knowledge of the society's shareholders.
The case came to light following a complaint filed by a Kuwaiti citizen, prompting investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department. Subsequent inquiries and investigations led to the discovery of the alleged scheme and the prosecution of those involved.
The court subsequently handed down the sentences against the defendants.
