Kuwait court orders mental evaluation of man convicted in brutal Al-Mutlaa murder of his wife

KUWAIT CITY, May 20: The Kuwait Court of Appeal, headed by Counselor Nasr Salem Al-Haid and comprising Counselors Mutaib Al-Aradhi and Saud Al-Sane, has ordered that a man convicted of killing his wife in the Al-Mutlaa desert be referred to a specialised psychiatric committee to assess his mental condition.

The accused had previously been sentenced to death by the Criminal Court after being found guilty of fatally assaulting his wife in a desert area in Al-Mutlaa. According to case details, the incident involved a violent attack that led to her death.

The Appeals Court ruling aims to determine the defendant’s mental competence at the time of the crime and whether he was fully responsible for his actions.

Further legal proceedings will continue based on the findings of the psychiatric evaluation.
