KUWAIT CITY, Aug. 17: Kuwait’s Misdemeanor Court has sentenced a man to one month in prison, with the sentence suspended upon payment of a KD 300 bail pending a final judgment, after finding him guilty of assaulting his wife and damaging her vehicle.
The case began after the woman filed a complaint alleging that her husband had assaulted her and damaged parts of her car. The investigation subsequently confirmed the assault and vehicle damage, according to the case records.
The court said it was satisfied with the evidence presented in the case, including the victim’s testimony, a witness statement, inspection reports, technical evidence and other findings documented during the investigation.
The court found that the evidence was consistent and mutually corroborative, leading it to conclude that the incident had been established and attributed to the defendant.
The court also stressed that assessing evidence and weighing witness testimony fall within the trial court’s authority, provided its conclusions are reasonable and based on the facts of the case.
Lawyer Khalil Haidar, representing the victim, said the ruling was an important step toward securing justice for his client and establishing what she had been subjected to.
Haidar stressed the importance of respecting judicial rulings and protecting victims’ rights to justice, adding that the outcome would be handled in accordance with established legal procedures.
