Kuwait court fines Snapchat influencer KD 2,000 and confiscates phone over indecent clips

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 25: Kuwait’s Court of Cassation has fined a Snapchat influencer KD2,000 and ordered the confiscation of her mobile phone over the posting of indecent clips and complaints filed against critics in connection with electronic crimes.

The case involved allegations that the celebrity posted content deemed indecent and filed complaints against people who criticised her, with the complaints allegedly being used to generate financial returns.

The complaints were filed with the Ministry of Interior’s cybercrime authorities.

The Court of Cassation upheld the penalty and ordered the confiscation of the phone used in connection with the offences.

The ruling comes amid continued legal action in Kuwait over social media content and the use of electronic platforms in ways that violate the country’s laws.
