Immediately release and reduce sentences of 2,044 violators covered under amnesty

KUWAIT, July 20: The Council of Ministers held its weekly meeting this afternoon through video conferencing chaired by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister.

At the beginning of its meeting, the Council of Ministers expressed its great happiness and satisfaction on success of surgery and speedy recovery of His Highness the Amir o f Kuwait.

The Cabinet also expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to the leaders, presidents and senior officials of countries for their their follow-up to the health status of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait.

On the other hand, the Cabinet expressed speedy recovery of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Anas Khaled Al-Saleh, informed the council implementation of the Decree (87) for the year 2020 regarding amnesty to reduce the sentence for those in prison on whom the fines are imposed for around 2,044 person to be released immediately by reducing the punishment as per aforementioned decree.

The Cabinet decided to assign the Ministry of Public Works in coordination with the relevant authorities to follow up all the technical requirements and specifications related to housing for labor and the establishment of labor cities as per the current and future requirements for numbers of workers and an estimate need for housing immediately.

The Council also decided to assign the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) in coordination with the competent authorities to ensure that the housing matches with the civil ID for each of the laborers affiliated with government agency contracts and take the necessary legal measures regarding violators.

The Council of Ministers examined the recommendation of the General Services Committee regarding the project for workers cities in the State of Kuwait, and the Council decided to entrust the relevant authorities by taking measures by providing housing (temporary or permanent) for laborers within the factory premsises and within the areas designated for projects.

The Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of State for Economic Affairs Maryam Aqel informed the council of the unanimous adoption of the United Nations Human Rights Council on Thursday of third periodic report of the State of Kuwait on human rights within the mechanism of the universal periodic review by the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The Minister of Health explained to the Cabinet the latest developments in the regional, global and local spread of the Corona virus, based on the statistics provided in the report of the World Health Organization, which included the numbers of cases that have been confirmed with the virus and the number of cases of recovery and deaths that receive treatment in intensive care.

The Cabinet examined the recommendations made by the Economic Affairs Committee regarding a number of bills to pass for the fiscal year (2019-2020) for institutions with independent budgets and bodies with attached budgets with state financial management.
