CAIRO, June 23 (KUNA): Kuwait's athletes added five more medals to their tally at the Arab Athletics Championships for the U-16 and U-23 categories, currently being held at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt.

The latest achievements raised Kuwait's total medal count to 11 in the championship, which features participation from 14 Arab countries.

Kuwait Athletics Federation Board Member and Head of the Media Committee, Farouk Al-Shaer, told KUNA that athlete Redha Bouhamad won the gold medal in the U-16 hammer throw competition after producing a personal-best throw of 57.19 meters.

Al-Shaer added that Talal Al-Rashoud captured gold in the U-23 hammer throw event with a personal-best mark of 66.87 meters, securing qualification for the upcoming Asian Championships.

In the same event, Mohammed Khan claimed the bronze medal with a throw of 58.48 meters.

On the track, Hamid Nabil earned the silver medal in the U-16 600-meter race after setting a new personal best. Nabil later joined Talal Al-Yaqout, Fahd Al-Dhafeeri, and Mohammed Nasser to win bronze in the 4x75-meter relay race.

Egypt is hosting the third edition of the Arab U-23 Athletics Championships alongside the inaugural Arab U-16 Athletics Championships in Ismailia through June 24.
