KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30, (KUNA): Fehaid Al-Ajmi, the President of the Kuwaiti Winter Games Club, declared Kuwait’s active participation in the 2025 Asian Winter Games hosted in Harbin, China. Scheduled for February 2025, the Kuwaiti delegation is set to compete in five diverse winter sports: ice hockey, curling, snowboarding, speed skating, and a figure skating showcase.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Ajmi highlighted the significance of Kuwait’s participation in these five Winter Olympic Games, emphasizing the country’s prominent role as a member of the Asia Olympic Council, headquartered in Kuwait. Kuwait’s involvement in the Winter Games holds substantial importance, making it a key contender in the Asian continent and the second-strongest globally, following the Winter Olympics.

Al-Ajmi outlined the Winter Games Club’s dedication to preparing Kuwaiti athletes for the championship, ensuring they deliver outstanding performances and strive for victory. The club is committed to nurturing the skills and capabilities of the participating players to enhance Kuwait’s standing in winter sports on the international stage.

Harbin, China, secured approval from the 42nd General Assembly of the Asia Olympic Council in Bangkok last July to host the 2025 Asian Winter Games. Looking ahead, the tenth edition of the Asian Winter Games is scheduled to take place in Trojena, Neom, Saudi Arabia, in 2029.
