Kuwait Condemns Iranian Attacks at GCC-UK Ministerial Meeting

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 12:  His Excellency Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the Kuwaiti delegation at the joint ministerial council meeting between the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, held via audio-visual connection on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

During the meeting, Sheikh Jarrah renewed Kuwait’s condemnation of the recent Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and other GCC countries since February 28, describing them as a flagrant violation of sovereignty and a breach of international law and humanitarian law. He emphasized Kuwait’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and affirmed that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard the nation’s territories and protect its citizens and residents.

Sheikh Jarrah also highlighted the broader impact of Iranian threats on maritime security, global energy, and international economic stability, and welcomed the UN Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2817, which condemns attacks on GCC countries and Jordan, and underscores respect for sovereignty and civilian protection.

The Foreign Minister commended the United Kingdom’s support for the GCC nations and stressed the importance of strengthening strategic partnerships, including enhanced political, security, and economic cooperation between the GCC and the UK.
