KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: Kuwait has strongly condemned the Iranian attack targeting two tankers affiliated with the UAE’s ADNOC while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said targeting commercial vessels and international maritime routes violates international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817, while threatening maritime navigation, energy supplies and global trade.
Kuwait called for an immediate end to actions that could escalate regional tensions, stressing the need to respect freedom of navigation and ensure safe passage through international waterways. It also called for the full and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with the UAE and its support for all measures taken by Abu Dhabi to protect its security, sovereignty and interests.
