KUWAIT CITY, July 14: Kuwait on Tuesday strongly condemned what it described as an Iranian attack on two Emirati oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a blatant violation of international law that threatens maritime security and global energy supplies.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack killed one crew member and injured several others. It said the incident violated international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and posed a direct threat to the safety of international shipping and the stability of global energy markets.
The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait's full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and expressed support for all measures taken by Abu Dhabi to safeguard its security and national capabilities.
Kuwait also called for an immediate halt to all escalatory actions and urged all parties to comply with international law, including provisions guaranteeing freedom of navigation and transit passage through international straits, stressing the need to preserve regional security and stability.
