Kuwait Condemns Iran-Linked Militia Attacks on Saudi Arabia, Reaffirms Support for Riyadh

KUWAIT CITY, July 29: Kuwait has condemned attacks carried out by Iran-affiliated militias in Iraq against Saudi Arabia, saying the actions threaten regional security and stability.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its "strong condemnation and denunciation" of the continued attacks, describing them as an indication of the militias’ determination to escalate tensions in the region.

The ministry specifically referred to the latest drone attack attempt targeting petroleum facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province on Tuesday evening, calling it a "flagrant violation" of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and territorial integrity.

Kuwait said the attacks came at a time when Saudi Arabia was making efforts to help reduce regional tensions and contribute to ending the escalation.

The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by Riyadh to protect its security, sovereignty, interests, and national capabilities.

It also stressed Saudi Arabia’s right to self-defense under international law, citing Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.

"The security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the State of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council states," the ministry said.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions following a series of drone attacks and military responses involving Iran-backed groups and Gulf states.
