Kuwait Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 8: Kuwait has strongly condemned attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against civilian and economic sites in several cities across Saudi Arabia, describing the incidents as a dangerous and unjustified escalation that threatens regional security and stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks resulted in dozens of civilian injuries, including women and children, and represented a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a direct threat to the security and safety of citizens and residents.

Kuwait said the attacks also constitute a violation of international law and international humanitarian law, stressing that targeting civilian and economic sites cannot be justified and risks further destabilizing the region.

The ministry also condemned the Houthis’ continued attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, warning that such actions pose a direct threat to the safety and security of maritime navigation, global energy supplies and international trade.

Kuwait expressed its absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its full support for the Kingdom and for all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security, stability and national interests.

The Foreign Ministry also stressed Kuwait’s support for measures aimed at protecting Saudi citizens and residents and safeguarding the Kingdom’s national resources and infrastructure.

The statement underscored the close security ties between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the security of the Kingdom is an inseparable part of Kuwait’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

Kuwait’s condemnation comes amid heightened regional tensions and continued concerns over attacks targeting Saudi territory and commercial shipping routes in the Red Sea, with Gulf states warning that further escalation could have broader consequences for regional stability and international trade.
