Kuwait Condemns ‘Flagrant’ Iranian Attack on US Embassy in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 3: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday expressed Kuwait’s strongest condemnation and rejection of what it described as a brutal Iranian attack targeting the building of the Embassy of the United States of America in the State of Kuwait.

In an official statement, the ministry said the attack represents a grave and flagrant violation of international norms and legal obligations, particularly the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. These international agreements guarantee the inviolability of diplomatic missions and provide full immunity and protection to diplomatic premises and their personnel, even in situations of armed conflict.

The ministry stressed that targeting diplomatic facilities constitutes a serious breach of established international principles governing relations between states and undermines the foundations of diplomatic engagement and global security.

It reiterated that the State of Kuwait reserves its full sovereign right to take all necessary measures and actions to safeguard its national security, protect its territorial integrity, and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.

Kuwait reaffirmed its commitment to international law and called for strict adherence to conventions that protect diplomatic missions and uphold stability and security at both the regional and international levels.
