Kuwait Condemns Attack on Consulate in Basra, Holds Iraq Responsible

KUWAIT CITY, Apr 7: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the storming and vandalism of its consulate in Basra, describing the incident as a serious violation of diplomatic norms and international law.

In a statement, Kuwait said the attack on the consular mission represents a “grave and flagrant breach” of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963), particularly provisions requiring host nations to protect diplomatic premises.

Kuwait held the government of Iraq fully responsible for the incident, stressing its obligation to ensure the safety and inviolability of diplomatic and consular missions on its territory.
